Jerry Yang's WSOP ME defense takes a hit...........
I can't really tell if this dumbass is still in but I suspect he may have made it through his Day 1. Still, this update made me smile:
"But later in the level Yang's chip stack took a big hit. After limping preflop and facing a reraise, Yang saw his opponent has 13,475 chips behind and put him all in. His opopnent called and had pocket queens, a four-to-one favorite over Yang's pocket threes. The flop was A-8-8, and then the turn was a three. Yang turned away from the table and yelled in celebration. Meanwhile a queen came on the river, giving the 32,000-chip pot to his opponent. After the hand Yang had about 20,000 chips."

I actually developed a lot more respect for the guy the more I learned about him. He is a quiet, humble, family man who does a lot of charity work and happens to love Poker. He is a lot better person than a lot of degens who have won the main event. He has never made any illusions about being an amateur, and has even talked about attending one of the pro's boot camps... he got lucky to win a huge donkament, maybe looked a little foolish on camera, and then used the money to take care of his family and do some charity work. Hard for me to begrudge a guy like that.
The praying at the table thing... yeah, still not down with that. But he still has one of the best quotes of all time... hmmm, new sig material.

I actually think that Jerry Yang is much worse even though he does not mean to be. If the guy had busted me last year and said "I want you to know - you have a friend for life" he would not have gone on to win, he'd have been lying face down choking on his teeth.

I don't watch poker on TV, nor take much notice of the news stories, therefore I totally admit I'm behind the times (12 months! yeah yeah I know) but............Geno, you always seem to be pretty level headed with your comments on this forum, so for you to write this I'm assuming he must be a real big jerk.Geno wrote:Yozman wrote:gold is the biggest jerk ever

I need to look this guy up. This is gonna be fun.

I met him in Vegas last April, and he genuinely seemed to be a decent guy. If you're basing your opinion on him solely from his WSOP moments, then you're probably doing him a disservice. I've found even the nicest guys can be total asses when they're at the table.

I have not met Jamie Gold but I can tell that he is a nice enough guy under all the facade in the WSOP and on HSP.
As we were leaving the WSOP this year for the final time and taking the long walk back to the Rio's main room, Jamie Gold was walking towards the WSOP. Me and my buddies had just spent the last hour ambushing pros for pictures but when I pointed him out to the none of them wanted a picture with him. That kinda pissed me off since clearly they also only see one side to him whereas saying hi may have changed their minds
As for Jerry Yang, jimmer, I am totally doing the guy a disservice. He clearly is a good guy, it's just that I have a pathological hatred for religion and religious people which means that he and I would get on like an old guy and a midget. I just think that if I busted close to glory in the biggest poker tourney of the year and was met with a religious zealot trying to comfort me, it would be literally the worst possible scenario for me to lose my rag.

Confirmation from 5+ Venetian dealers where he was playing last night. Jamie Gold is one of the nicest guys in Poker. He is a generous tipper, always friendly to the players, never rude to the dealers, and always respectful of the rules, even the rules that were created with him in mind (ie talking about your hand during the hand, which I think should be 100% allowed as long as it isn't collusive).
Jamie is a virtual class act compared to some of the losers that are well known in the Poker world.

You forgot, "and can be a horse's ass at times".
I realize the ME was just a small sample, but at times he was a dick, now it worked so I can't fault him too much, but thats just how I perceived him to be.
On the other hand, he does have good intentions most of the time, so Ill give him the benefit of the doubt.
