Kem cards supposed to look like this?

Postby rlasker3 » Sat Apr 10, 2004 3:17 pm GMT

I just purchased my first deck of Kem cards off of eBay. The feel is great but I am not sure if the colors are correct.

They appear a little duller in color than other cards and I was wondering if that is normal. Since this is my first deck I'm not sure if they are supposed to be that way or if I bought cards that were considered 2nd quality from an eBay dealer.

The picture is the KEM compared to a Bicycle card.

If the picture on the left is the KEM card, that's what they look like at the casinos I frequent. At first when I started I figured there was something wrong with the light in the room. Took some getting used to.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, EVERYONE noticed the different color but after a while you got used to them and they seemed fine. I just wanted confirmation that I didn't pay for defective cards.

My KEMs are a little more dull than my Bicycle... but not enough that anyone would say something about it.

Can anyone tell me what's so special about KEM cards compared to regular buy-em-from-gastation cards?

The life of a KEM card is 5-7 years compard to regular cards.
They are virtually indestructable, cant bend them, mark them, marr them. You can wash them......top of the line playing cards!!

They are by no means indestructable, as we found out last night on one of the Jokers, but so long as you don't delibrately TRY to crease them, with normal use they simply always remain at a constant "snap back" rigidity.

Yeah. You CAN damage them but you have to try to do it, it just isn't going to happen during normal use. They are also really flexible and very easy to shuffle and play with. They are plastic so you can clean them if they get dirty and they are very durable so even though they cost more they last a LOT longer so in the long run they are much much cheaper.

My cards are also darker red, like a maroon color. I like them better this way. The darker colors look more 'classy' to me. They also match the color of my table topper and chips very well. Bright red wouldn't look nearly as good.

I have 5 decks, they're all dull. I'm guessin that's the small
price you pay for printing on plastic, other than paper. In
any normal lit room, when peeking at my cards, I can't see
color at all. Just have to look at the shapes. But, the cards
rule, "bendy shuffler guy" is'nt dealing the cards with the
edges curled up, and yeah they'll last a damn long time.

I must say though that I am very satisfied with these cards. They feel top notch and shuffle great. Well worth the cash and it is just good knowing that they will last a long time.

So I'vve heard nothing but good things about these cards, and I'd like to get a couple of decks. Which do you guys recommend? I see they have some different styles available (on teh backs) but that's not so important to me. Curious what set would be best for a weekly 8 player poker game.

Thoguhts/Suggestions?

The left card in the image above is a poker Wide (3 1/2" x 2 1/2") with a regular index (smaller lettering).

To me that simply seems like the best version but other may feel different.

here are all the options:

SIZE
The two sizes are:
Bridge Size is 2-1/4 inches wide by 3-1/2 inches high. Bridge size is the standard size used for most card games.
Wide Size Poker is 2-1/2 inches wide by 3-1/2 inches high. Wide size is preferred by many players for playing poker.

FACE STYLE
The four face styles are:
Regular Face - standard size numbers and pips
Image
Super Index (SI) Face - large size numbers and pips. These are used by visually impaired players, and are preferred by many other players.
Image
Magnum Index Face - extra large size numbers and pips.
Image
European Style Face - standard size numbers and pips, and they have indices in all four corners. European style is available only in Florence and Paisley.

Thanks for the lesson, rlasker3! Very informative and very helpful. I think I like the European index teh best -simply cuz you can lift any corner to see your hand.

Does anyone here have a favorite store that they have purchased their Kem's thru?
