Okay, Okay, Okay. I've had it!

What is all this obsessing over labels???? I've played poker for 40 years and never had chips with denoms on them until a year ago, and then only because I started collecting retired casino chips.

Nobody had ever had a problem remembering what the damn things were worth. I mean if you can't remember that white is one, red is five, green is 25 and black is 100, how in the hell can you play the game??? My considered opinion is that once the cards are dealt it gets more a lot more complicated than that.

Are you using them just as a decorative statement? For security to stop guys bringing in blanks and scamming? I just don't get it? Help!

I agree. I'm actually having trouble finding chips I like because all the decent chips I find have numbers and/or pictures on them. I want a nice, simple, classic-looking chip. I like the design of the dice/suited/dynasty/etc chips..why don't they sell good chips that look like them?

Actually, you might want to check out casino practice chips that Paulson makes. They don't have denominations (and, sadly, no edge spots), but they are identical in weight, texture and general "feel" to their casino chips. In the middle is a gold starbust (not on a label). I haven't seen any of these on ebay, which is mildly amazing. They used to be sold to the public as recently as last October and by the thousands, and they came in about 40 different colors. I bought some at a casino supply store in Las Vegas downtown near the public library about 2 years ago. This guy had bins and bins of used casino chips, thousands of them, and you could pick through and make your own set. At the time I thought he was asking way to much: can you imagine someone selling used Paulson casino chips (most with those goofy edge spots) for 45 and 55 cents each???? Yeah, well, my thinking's changed a bit since then.
