Late in MTT Restealing and calling resteals ranges

Postby MrDarling » Mon Dec 31, 2007 1:32 pm GMT

Am hoping this will get a more specific ranges then my BVB thread.

"I know this is opponent depended, but lets just try to put a range any way"

Assume average is 20BB. players play between 10%-20% of their hands.

My stealing range is very wide from any position.
However I think my restealing range is way too tight. Last night I folded AJo on the BTN to UTG open.
I also folded AQo on the BTN to a resteal from the BB (he pushed for over 20BB)

When you are down to 10BB the decisions are pretty easy, but I find I get into problems by folding too much when I'm 20BB and above.

Does the distance from the bubble change your decision? (assuming the payout is enough to matter)

So far I only resteal with JJ+ AK+ and call with the same. Of course if someone is really active I might resteal with ATC. And if someone is really tight I might consider folding JJ to resteals.

urg i posted a really good piece here a while back about re-stealing ranges.

basically teh math says optimal restealing is between 10-15bbs. >20bb you really shoud be looking for other moves most of the time because the reward < risk

You know i have the exact same problem. I play exactly the same with only restealing with JJ+ or AK.
Not sure if i should be retealing more cause when someone repops me there is a select few hands i can actually call with and most of the time is a simple fold.

well u can just say u are never restealing
coz if u reraise depending on what cards u have and only raise top hands then u are raising for value and not restealing
