It's much better than WPT, u don't have those 2 retards presenting it or those incessant (useless) poker facts every 5 seconds. Wot u do get is Jesse May - the best commentator in the poker world, and even Nick Szeremetta (sp?) in the early seasons who is also gr8. Later u get Barny Boatman or Devilfish so wot more do u want? The standard of play is also gr8 despite not having the big global names. I'm from the UK, can u guess?

i recall jesse may doing the fox sports poker marathon at the sands. dude he was so annoying. like he would exaggerate everything. he would go into a seizure when announcing someone has pocket 5's. i mean shiet it was annoying. i couldn't stand watching the tourney because of him. but on that late night poker thing he's actually very calm and does a good job. he should commentate like that all the time.

I think Late Night Poker is one of the best poker programs I have ever seen - I think channel 4 may revive it because it enjoyed huge popularity with all the reruns it got last year on Home & Leisure channel.
Somebody in this thread mentioned the commentators - they were spot on in what they said. The one thing for me that always sets it apart from other poker coverage is the quality of the main commentator (Jesse May) and the summariser with him. I don't remember Devilfish ever doing any commentating though, I just remember Nick Sheremeda (or however it is spelled), Barney Boatman and later Lucy Rocasz. There was one time where Boatman was the summariser and he was playing in the competition. After he got knocked out he popped up in the box to pass comment on the rest of the heat he had just left. Great stuff.
The other thing the american viewers have to look forward to (although it happened in about series 5) is the great sight of Phil Hellmuth losing his temper at the end of a game and, in so doing, losing the respect of a lot of English people who (myself included) had been hugely impressed with both his play and his conduct in the previous series.

Ok, ok ok we get it everyone. Everyone from the UK will prefer Late Night Poker and every American will prefer the WPT. I can say I am the same but Late Night Poker is probably the second best to watch, since the players actually know what they are talking about. May can get a little over excited at times, but is pretty intelligent overall. Now Vince Van Patten is NOT so intelligent of the game and just says dumb stuff during the course of it, so of course he can get troublesome as well. Can someone tell me again all of the days LNP comes on? I know it's 10:30 or so, and I have watched it twice I just keep on forgetting to watch it!
