leaks

Postby mortaleclipse » Mon Jul 07, 2008 5:58 pm GMT

Been really focusing on determing my biggest leaks and what is costing me the most money, hands, position..ect ect. I have found after looking over my poker office stats that AQ, KQ oop has cost me a FORTUNE. Which is kinda duh shouldn be playing that but it is a leak. I went from strictly from tournies to been playing alot of cash past couple days and trying new styles. Its alot higher variance but been doing extreme aggresive betting to see what works. Only playing 25NL which is good cause i got like 55 buy ins or so currently so I can deff adjust my game to try new things.

just kinda curious what other think there biggest leaks are and what they did to learn what they were? I know there are other leaks but im still trying to realise what they are.

I'll do it for $50 :)

Seriously though, one my leaks is putting my opponents on a hand that beat me (which is weaker then the hand they are trying to rep) and still call.

Also, sometimes I act a little too fast. Which is bad both in timing tells and in my decisions... And last when I play bad I'm a little to insistence that my opponent really can't be so bad to have the hand they are repping. like trips on 44T in a reraised pot.

It's a good thing you have your priorities straight. I hear Geno and UAU are super friendly, you should ask them.

I wont sweat you, but a couple of leaks that I noticed over the years were blind play, always playing certain hands the same way and over valuing hands at NL.

1) Blinds, I was playing too much by math in limit and getting into trouble when I hit part of it in multiway pots. Now I fold a larger range of hands and pick spots better. You might hit a flop, but against 4-5 players, it wont likely hold up since they arent going anywhere and protecting a bad hand vs lots of players gets expensive and rarely pays off.

2) In limit or NL I was almost always making continuation bets w/ AK AQ AJ KQ vs 2-3 opponents and bleeding a lot of chips. Now I am more like 40-60% depending on the number of opponents and their style.

3) Making bigger folds at NL and making more value bets w/ weak kickers or 2nd pocket pairs where I used to check down.

Not sure if it is luck or tweaks, but this year has been very good to me.

NL25 is right down my alley. Even though I actually haven't played much online recently. Been helping out a few friends who want to get into online poker.

If your able to find your own leaks then you Sir have got it figured out....just stop the leaks now. It doesn't hurt either to go back and evaluate your play after a month or if you hit a rough patch. Make sure you haven't sprung new leaks or back to your old ways.

I think one of my biggest leaks actually is not playing solid poker. I either give my opponent too much credit (thinking they can fold their weak TP) or not enough...

I think I can analyze a hand with the best of them, however when it comes to applying it while playing I often ignore all the advice I give or the knowledge I have and become a calling station.

I actually think playing solid poker is pretty easy. Just having the courage to do so is the hard part.

i used to play very long sessions, which was a leak. now i dont anymore.... i like to play multiple short sessions instead of one big session....

other than that, i dont really know what my biggest leaks are.. i started a leak thread here once where i said that i get into trouble spots with pocket pairs or something of that nature.... not anymore....

i dont know.
