what is the best system for winning? best ive found is the double martinggale system, however it requires minimum 300 dollars to play. what do you guys reccommend? i want an in the long run winning system.

The Martingale System is absolutely awful. It will never change your long-term odds of winning for the better--the best you can hope to do is break even. The only way to improve your odds is to learn to count cards. There are plenty of 2+2 Books that detail counting systems.

But overall, with the Poker boom, I don't see why anyone would want to commit to having a small edge at Blackjack that takes a LONG term to come through.

i want to try something different from poker (im not gonna do this for a couple months). if i can find blackjack at low enough stakes im gonna give it a whirl with a system similar to double martinggale unless i can find something different. worst that can happen is i bust and figure out blackjack sucks

btw i know its a losing system in the long run blah blah i just want to try something different. chances are i wont do it but still, i like to think about it

First off, I didn't say anything wrong. Personally, I don't think you have the self control to be good at any form of gambling, especially something like BJ, where you're at a disadvantage to start, and only get worse with the slightest of slipups. You are asking a stupid question, too, because you yourself already know no one should be playing Blackjack for profit regardless. Saying "i know it's stupid but i'm gonna try it anyways" is no different than saying "i know it's stupid but I'm gonna try to do it anyways, so I'm a stupid person".

This thread has went a little overboard, still, the subject is kinda cool so I'll bite.

I think the kind of effort needed to become good at blackjack is _horrible_, it is alot of work for a minimal edge.

But these are important points:

1. To have an edge at blackjack you have to count, and you have to play somewhere where the shuffle is high enough so that counting actually matters.
2. Online sites operate with low count % of a the shoe before they shuffle, this is completely understandable, because if they didn't you could probably write a robot that played optimal blackjack for you.

With this in mind, the only viable option you have as an online blackjack gambler is:

1. Playing in such a manner that minimizes house edge.
2. Take advantage of bonus offers.

Now, different houses play with different sets of house rules for various situations that can arise at the table. You need to know the best way to play against these different rules (dealer may for instance always stand on a particular soft hand or always hit on a particular soft hand etc.) So you will definitvely need to read up on blackjack theory. Blackjack is also a pretty set game, so there are usually options that are optimal to follow when dealt a particular hand in an particular instance. It won't be profitable, but it will lose less in the long run.

My personal view is that blackjack is a cool game to kill time, but rather pointless to play apart from the fun you get.

If you want to get into blackjack, you might look into tournaments. Blackjack, like other casino table games, is a losing proposition for the player. It's designed to give the house an edge. The house has less an edge at blackjack than at almost all other casino games, but there is a house edge nonetheless.

Tournaments, however, you are competing against other players and not the house. I'm not sure what kind of entry fees the house would take and how good you would have to be to beat the fees, but there is some skill involved in winning tournaments as opposed to playing a table game against the house.

I don't know if they still are as widespread as they used to be, but the bonus thing is probably the way to go. And, not using the martingale system, might be a good idea too.
