Made a final table
Okay, it was only a freeroll but I still think I did well to out survive 1,000 others.
I signed up to FT to see what the software and games are like and noticed that a UK freeroll was starting in 10 minutes.
Managed to come 9th and win a huge $3
Got knocked out when I want all in PF with JJ and got called by KQo. The flop was all low cards but he hit his queen on the turn and then his king on the river.
Can't help thinking that if I'd have just called PF and bet after the flop I'd have been okay, but no point worrying now. Just need to make a mental note for next time.

I know I made the right play really. I guess I was just a miffed at being the first one to leave the table after nearly 5 hours of play.
I've always avoided MTTs before because of the time investment and the slim chance of making a decent return but I really enjoyed it last night. I know it's easy to enjoy it when you do well but I think I will start playing a few low buy-in MTTs at the weekends.
Should make a nice change from my usual SnGs.

You Think That's Bad
I have just finished a WPC qualifier. Top 10 qualify for the final (where top 4 go to the WPC). I have already qualified for one "final" so was now gunning for my 2nd to double my chances.
I was chip leader for 3/4 of the tourney. Down to 11 left, and after mucho folding with trash and unable to make a move due to others beating me to it, I am in 8th and geting low. With blinds at 2500/5000 and 25k left, it's folded to me in the SB. I push with air on the BB who calls with J8. Bear in mind I'd been tight all game and not shown a bad hand. He calls J8, despite being covered. He had 17k left and coulda folded. I
I lose, am left with 5052 so no FE and I bubble a 400 man affair in 11th. Despite making one final already, that really stung.

You pushed with air, on the bubble, where the entire FT won an identical prize and the game ended as soon as the bubble was declared? You sir, are quite mad.
I know your stack was short but you should really be folding any two cards in almost every spot in this situation. I played a similar game recently and folded KK pre-flop to no raise because there was no mileage whatsoever in getting involved in the hand. With one player left to go, just sit tight and only play if you absolutely have to. It really sounds like you did not have to since you could have folded and left yourself with 25K chips at 2.5K/5K which is a few orbits in which time someone else could have busted

Geno, I was doing exactly what you said, and had seen my 1st place stack become 2nd (38,000) by time we were down to 20 and down to 8th with 12 to go with bottom stack being 15,000 (mine was 30,000). I folded and folded down to just under 25,000 and didn't want to get so low as to be in push/fold mode.
Added to this, the BB had been on my table for a long time and had seen me play only strong hands. Yes, it was a risk but coupled with my image and the bubble situation, I felt I'd only get called by an absolute monster and that he, as you suggest, would fold most hands anyway just to avoid the bubble (like the table had been doing).
He didn't, simple.
As chip leader, I had sat back with 45 runners left, playing only good hands in position etc. All the shorties were pushing and, annoyingly enough, were doubling up. I didn't want it to continue because then I could end up as the shorty! The folding tactic seemed to be working against me and I was getting perilously close to busto.
Was I wrong to push? Yes - even though it was paying dividends for a number of others. Was he wrong to call with J8 os? Most definitely!
Rest assured, I have been kicking myself (inbetween bouts of cursing a call with J8).

I have been in this situation on more then one occasion. Standard raise situation...if no one calls then I take the blinds but to fold it pre-flop is just insane.
