i believe there are people who can supplement their income online. the real pros play live games regularly. but i don't think without actually seeing the players and all their little nuances, or quirks you can make enough online to make a living at it. you've got to have them in front of you at some point. i also believe that at the limits you need to play to make a living, the players seem to have no regard for money. as if they have maxed their credit card out and just don't give a damn. go watch a game live at 15-30 or higher, the play is significantely different. of course this is strictly one persons opinion, nothing more. if someone is actually making a living at poker online, i would love to spend an afternoon with them and learn something, that truely would be an awesome experience.

Making a living at online poker
In response to your question, I would say there are a large number of people making their living off online poker. I am only a college kid, and do not have a lot of bills, but I make enough playing hold'em online to live fairly comfortably. I only make around $400/wk, but I also stick exclusively to the low limit tables ($1/$2 and $2/$4) where the competition is extremely weak. As I get better, I plan on moving up the stakes and making more.

hold-em guy,
400 a week is a pretty good take. if the competition is so week, i suggest you stick to those limits, and keep the gravy train moving as long as possible. you move up to higher limits, i'm pretty sure your profits will go down. remember you said it yourself, the competition is weak. you think those higher limit players aren't just waiting for a cocky individual like you to just rip apart. good luck, caribyan
p.s. what site are you tearing up?

8) 8) Heya Caribyn and Carson.
I thought I would put some imput in gents. I dont think I will be back to the forum anytime soon, as I dont cruise the web often. So feel free to email me at themrlegendary@yahoo.com or thepokerlegend@yahoo.com but the former is my usual email the 2nd is just one I use to register for poker emails and such. Now i dont play for a living, or not totally. I work a job partime, just enough hours to be covered under their health insurance and such. Its also much easier to apply for a loan with a stable job then to say ya, i am a professional poker player.
There are so many benefits to playing for a living and many downsides. There are a few tips and tricks that i have learned over my time. I work that job for about 12 p/h plus profit sharing so i make about 25,000+ a year but i make much more playing poker. I dont measure my lump sum at the end of a playing secession however. Like someone said I made 500 in a day or something. I go by hourly averages as many pros do. So i make daily, weekly and monthly averages for hourly play. In the month of August I averaged 32.75$ p/h. I dont often work a full 8 hour shift. I make not work for 2 days and then play for 36 hours. But i put in 40hours a week atleast. I do play strictly online poker which interests alot of people. I dont personally know that many who play online for a living but i know a few here and there. I am giving serious thought to writing an Ebook about my experiences, with playing online and making a good killing at it. Not many people have written on the subject as Online Poker is still young compared to casino rings. So there are certain things you might not know about online poker.
I am always happy to talk poker tactics or stratigies. Talk about poker people or sites or how you can make a good killing at a certain game. I cant help with omaha really or 7stud but i have a friend who is a killer at omaha hi/lo split. I stick to mostly NLH cash tables and the ocassional PLH game but I also play a handful of tournaments a week. So if you have questions or just wanna chat about poker or life in general you can email me or contact me on AIM (aol instant messenger) at the screen name TheMrLegendary or by the same name on yahoo but i am not on there often, but leave me an offline message to let me know. I hope to see you all around, you can find me at truepoker or more often partypoker.com under the name mrlegendary as themrlegendary doesnt fit. if i take your money, please no hard feelings. otherwise gents, take care and good hands in your games this month.
