Matsui
I have been in contact with Matsui for the last couple of days and am currently working on a deal to purchase a large volume of Matsui clay and/or Decal chips if enough people are interested. This would be another group buy type situation that I would organize. It is still much too early to discuss specifics but was wondering generally how many people might be interested in a group buy?
I do not consider the pole to be any sort of commitment. It’s just to give me an idea about how people feel.

i can't guarantee i'd be involved or anything. but recently i got my sample set from them, and the only chip i'd ever buy of theirs is the clay. i like them a lot. that being said, i'll probably end up buying tenpercenters custom paulsons as seen here: http://tinyurl.com/6y6th

I voted for the decal, since it seems we have enough nice clays floating about in various group buys, but no real "Bud Jones" -type chips. Plus, pokerchipreviews seems to like them a lot. Too bad he didn't review the clays as well.
A few questions:
1. How do you get samples? Email Matsui directly, or is there some U.S. retailer we can contact? Cost?
2. Can someone post some pics/reviews of the clays?
3. Pokerchipreviews says these (at least, the coin-centered) are "pretty expensive". What kind of general price range are we talking about for the group buy? At least, can you say more or less than $1.00/chip?

I am really jonesin' for the Matsui decals. Since Bud Jones chips aren't available to the home market in any form (other than high-priced casino chips on eBay), I'd love a set of decals. Plus, I like the Matsui colors better, too. And, while Ten's Paulsons are tempting, I'm just not a fan of Paulson clays. I actually like T.R. Kings better than Paulsons for some reason.
Problem is, Law School is presently draining me of any financial resources (and will continue to do so for another year
) If you do make this happen, I will do my best to scrape together the scratch get a set of the decals, though.
Good luck getting this moving.

Get you a huge group buy and you can get them for cheaper, but not much. their best price is for over 50,000 chips, and it's not a whole lot of a discount.

I’m still waiting for my samples but am confident of the quality, which is why I’m already trying to get this going. As for prices, I don’t have an answer for you yet. I have asked the Matsui sales department some specific question about this and various other details in email but was not given answers. I am quite adamant about this however, if I can get enough support from you all as far as quantity. My #1 goal will be design and a close second will be to get the absolute lowest price possible - I am on a somewhat limited budget as well. I think someone already posted this email address for samples but here it is again... Personally I am leaning to Clay's but I will not make a decision until a few more people have had a chance to see samples and I can pin Matsui down to specific pricing.

Right now I feel that the clays are readily obtainable in TR King, Paulson, ASM and Blue Chip. What we need are the decal chips. The designs look awesome on pokerchipreviews.com. I can't believe that nobody is jumping them as far as retail sales. All I see is the coin centered chips with designs that do not appeal to me.

There is a secondary mission I'm working on that addresses the retail issue.

I'm pretty sure they do inlays, although I have not seen them up close.

Anyone know where I can lay my hands on some Matsui clays with inlays? (samples that is). The samples I got from the factory are plain, no inlay or stamp.
