MY FIRST WSOP SATELLITE

Postby General Sal » Mon Feb 09, 2004 2:21 am GMT

So, I lost my virginity at this satellite. I guess I'll always remember my first time at these things. Pretty exciting and interesting at the same time, as the competition really gets tighter than I've ever seen it before. This is really a last chance for a lot of people and it definitely would affect your play.

Ultimately, I came out as # 72 out of 228 players. Not a bad performance I think. I really wish I'd gotten the better cards in the middle stages of the tournament. I actually got pocket aces twice! One of the times I went all in with them and the other guy had pocket aces too!

Where are you playing these? I will be in LV in mid march and looking to play one or two.

I was in a satalite for a $1000 seat for the $100K tourney at my local card club. 1st hand-4 all in callers. 2 w/ AA 1 w/ KQ, 1 w/ 89 suited. 89 suited won w/ a str8! This tourney allowed rebuys, so guys werent bashful early. But still, that is some wild action.

The table stayed weird for 2 hours until we broke. I had a stack triple everyone else (flopped a set resulting in a monster hand) and later took out 2 players w/ 22 when rags were flopped. Both called w/ AK and didnt catch their card.

I am FOR SURE coming in March. We arrive late on Wed 3/17 and jumping on the red eye 1am Sunday 3/21.

We have a group of 10-12 guys. Only a couple of us play holdem, so I am not sure how much I will play. But I do want to play some tourneys.
