New eyes to PLO

Postby MrDarling » Wed Feb 27, 2008 6:51 am GMT

About a year ago I dabbled with some low limits PLO and actually built a pretty nice BR out of it.
Played $25PLO and a little $50PLO and basically played like most other players : played lots of hands and tried to hit the nuts.

Yesterday decided to take a day off Holdem as I'm having lots of problems. Either I can't find a good game or I keep feeding the fish.
So watched a couple of PLO videos and decided to give it a go.

If you play 6M PLO NL style its very profitable.
ie , use position, don't open limp, cbet lots, draw aggressively etc..
If you sit with lots of aggressive players this game can be very high on variance because most of the time if the money goes in on the flop you are in a 60/40 situation. But most players on $100PLO seems to draw very passively which allows you to almost play perfectly against them.

I got the bug. Even went a head and bought PT Omaha.

GL, stay away from my tables.

Yeah, the PLO bug has hit me pretty hard and have found myself playing that the majority of the time at the moment.

FT 1/2, 2/4 and 3/6. I prefer the cap games because there is a sick amount of action. Nah I have no clue for PT stats yet. I have PTO but haven't looked up anything as of yet, only 5k hands.

But aren't cap game just gambling PF? You got very little play left post.

There can't be any real 3Bet pots, as 3Bets gets half a 'stack' in.
Your implied odds are smaller and your semi bluffs are less effective...
Or so I think.

So I think by reducing the effective stack size you're actually reducing your edge.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, I don't think the players play the cap game correctly and from the strategy I am being taught, there isn't really many 3 bets pf unless I have AA and I can get 1/2 my stack in. I think you get paid off a lot more easily as well in cap.
