Newbie enjoying this fine forum...ThanX
I'm a newbie to online poker and in fact have not played since my college days in live table games. I'm finding myself becoming quickly addicted to the game again.
I stumbled across this forum a few weeks back and have found much of the content very useful and sometimes amusing (in a good way). I want to thank all who have made it what it is...Thanks
I saw a post about best finishes somewhere and though I'd pass along my limited results. I'm sure many more tournys will follow.
I signed up at UB mid Dec 2003 (my Dad turned me on to it) and have played in a handful (7) of sit and goes (free ones). I finnished 3rd, 3rd, 5th, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, and 1st.
Last night I played in my first multi-table freeroll tourney and came in 131 out of 672. PLayed fairly tight and had really had garbage cards all night. Ended up going all in (I was short stack at table by far and was up for the BB next hand) B4 the flop with 8 8. Mr. big stack called (yikes!). Flop came up 8 5 3, so I think i'm OK. Turn = J and Riv = x, Mr. Big Stack shows J J. Goodbye to me.
I notice that play at the smaller blind tables (FREE 1's at UB) is outrageously loose, sometimes I kill and other times I get whooped by morons going all the way with crap and pulling a miricle on the river. I built up some play money and moved to the 500/1000 and 1000/2000 NL tables a few nights ago. I was pleasently surprised to see smart play on the tight side of the road. Much more sane players it seems at least so far. I have turned 20K in to 130K in 2 nights by playing real tight. I know free tables are no indication of "real" poker, but it seems much closer to what I imagine it would be. I decided to drop in a $100 in my UB acct. to test out real $ play at some lower tables and tourneys and see what that is like.
My God i have blathered on here, so if your still reading... my appologies.
Once again thanks to the site contibutors, your diligence is appreciated.

Welcome to the boards and good luck with your online poker career. UB is a nice place to play and real money is the way forward if u can afford it like u say. Just be prepared to see a lot of bad beats and weird situations bcos online play moves at such a quick pace........
