NL hands-not getting max value

Postby Dave B » Tue Mar 24, 2009 5:14 pm GMT

Ran red hot last night, but in hindsight, I think I should have done much better given my hands. Here are a few I would like y'all to comment on:

1) QQ raise 3xBB 2 callers, button raises to 6x, I dont want 4 seeing a flop so I reraise to 12x, heads up.
Flop Q44 2 suited(wishing I had smooth called). I check, he bets only 1/4 pot, I call.
Turn 10, I check, he bets 1/6 pot, I raise 1/2 pot, he calls.
River J, bet out 60% pot, he tanks and mucks

2) 55, EP raises to 4x, one caller, I call 3 way action, I have position
Flop 965 rainbow, checked to me, I bet 4x or 1/3 pot, all fold. Slowplay this? Bet more?

3) 99, EP same dude from above raises 4x, I smooth call one other comes in.
Flop QJ9 2 clubs, checked to me, I bet 1/2 pot, caller folds, raiser calls.
Turn K clubs, check, I check
River A spades, checked to me, I check

4) KK raise to 4x BB w/ some limpers, BB raise to 12x, limpers fold, I call. Flop J76 rainbow, he checks, I bet 1/2 pot, he folds.

Hand 1: I would c-bet this flop, as I am supposed to as 4-bettor, maybe a lower amount, which would have to be called at least. Check is suspicious.
Hand 2: I bet at least half the pot
Hand 3: I would bet the turn
Hand 4: 4 bet pf

1. I would bet the flop, because while this looks like a strong line, any other line is going to look even stronger, and even to an idiot, is going to weight your range toward Queens full. Also, am I to assume that he raised to 6 BB's, and you only reraised to 12? I'd bet more if you're committed to the hand. If you're not, I'd just call, because all this is doing is giving him incentive to continue hands with implied odds and snap you off with better.

2. This line is fine IMO.

3. I might bet a little bit on the river after getting checked to twice, just because you're never getting bluff-raised here, and he's probably going to call a small bet with a good chunk of two pair hands.

4. Depending on stacks (which would be helpful btw), I might just try to ship it all-in pre. Your line here is OK, but I might bet more, again depending on stack sizes.

Checking hand one without villain history is terrible.

Hand two is better spot to check, but betting is fine.

Hand 3 I'd normally bet club turn but this card is about as bad as we can get. I'm betting river if he checks both streets. I might not get a lot of calls but I'm hardly ever beat either since he checked twice.

hand 4. I think if you aren't going to 4-bet pre you should check behind. Flop is safe to check.

The bet sizing made me think it was live.

As miaow said, bet bigger in general.

I see bigger bets scare people more online than live. What do others think?

I have only played live NL cash games in LV, maybe that has something to do w/ it.

Preflop this is occasionally true. Postflop nobody bets big enough live, so pots tend to move around more online.

Hand 1- I like betting all the way here usually.

Hand 2- seems fine.

Hand 3- bet tad more on flop, turn fine, vbet river.

Hand 4- 4x over limpers way too small, but I don't mind the flat pre,or the flop bet. Course you could be way more "standard" and just re re raise to like 28x when it gets back round to you.
