Hey guys, I figured I had a fair few outs on this hand. I ended up folding because I was unsure, but what were my odds here, and was it correct to fold?

If you could explain the method you use then that would be great, I find it hard to calculate odds quickly at the table so any tips will be appreciated.

Well, I think it was a good fold since he was betting a bit more than the pot and you could potentially only have 4 outs (the 4 Queens). You don't even know if your Jacks are outs as he could have a hand like KQ.

And as part of your last question on how to do the odds quickly during the hand. Well, I'm not the greatest at that, butwhat I do is round the pot to the nearest dollar, then I round the bet to the nearest dollar. So instead of $4.80 in the pot, I would round that to $5. And instead of a $5.30 bet, I would round that down to $5.00. It is not 100% accurate, but it gives you a rough idea of where you are at. How does that sound?

this is roughly 5.5 to 1

my way of guestimating this is to take my outs times 10. devide unseen cards into that. To me, its easier math
8x10=80 clearly 46 won't go into 80 twice, close but not quite, so roughly 16 or 17 by estimation. Take this 80/'# of unseen cards', on the river its 46 so 80/46= about 17. Take this result as a percentage to catch your cards. 17%. To calc the ratio, I go by 20% is 5-1. 25% is 4-1, 33% is 3-1 and 10% is 10-1. Here we have 17%, so not quite 20%, or slightly mor e than 5-1. I guess it to be around 5.5 to 1 to catch your hand vs 2-1 pot odds.
