Omaha Hi/Lo

[Nut Flush]

Never played before til last night. Tried some .5/.10 limit tables for starters. Just have some basic questions on the low hand.

1) to qualify for low, you need 5 cards with no card being higher than eight?

2) You cannot use low pairs. For example, I have pocket deuces, I can only use one of them for low?

3) Your high hand can be different from your low? Example, I have KK23.
Flop comes KAA45. I have a Kings full of Aces for the high, and the nut low with a 5 high straight?

4) If two poeple have an A-5 straight for the low, will a straight flush beat a regular straight or is it a tie?

5) I know regular Omaha people like to see AAKK double suited or lots of connectors like AKJ10 double suited. What are good starting hands for Hi/Lo?

6) Best strategy? Having the nut high or the nut low and betting the crap out of it? If you have nut high, hoping someone has the nut low to bet the crap out of it also and hope some retard is staying in the hand?

7) If the board shows A8K9Q, there is no possible low hand? So high hand takes the whole pot?

Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I need a break from Hold Em and enjoyed Hi/Lo Omaha. Now if I can just make money at it....

now we get into opinions:
5) I like A-A-2-K the best myself, but it is said that A-A-2-3 is the best omaha starting hand. Without even mentioning it, it is implied that having two of each suit in a two suited hand is ideal.

...but that doesnt mean you should fold your 9-10-J-Q just because its not on the list!

6) Omaha hi-lo is not my best game, so I may not be able to answer this one as well as others.

sounds like a smart strategy. I have been that retard before. Also keep in mind that there are more possibilities with a high hand so there will be more ties in low than in high. Sometimes, you can lose money even when you have already made the nut low. So from my novice experience I would agree it is better to play both high and low (to take it all down) but if you have to choose, I would choose to bet on high more often than low.
