That's fair enuff and they can advertise wherever they like with permission. People who advertise on this forum deserve nothing from us so I'm not gonna give them anything. I'll stick with UB and other reputable sites who don't stoop to such depths and keep their custom by running a gr8 poker room.

PartyPoker Advertising?
Hi All,
I'm a pretty avid player on party poker. Wanted to know what you guys were referring to about party poker advertising? I think i play tournaments at least a few times a week and i don't really know what advertising you are talking about. The adds on TV? or something with the program? Just curious, thanks!

I meant to delete this thread to be honest
Anyway, we have had a spate of morons coming here from various websites and putting up links to special offers on their websites in order to get people to sign up. It basically amounts to free advertising for them which is not the way to go about things at all, especially as this site hosts an advert for them down on the left hand side anyway!
I'd guess I was pretty ticked off the day I altered the message that started this thread hence the sarcasm but it did come at a time when the free plugging had reached ridiculous levels. Luckily, it has since calmed down and 99% of people are here to use the forum for its intended purpose which is to share stories of poker and learn more about the game.
May it stay that way for a long time

PS. I have nothing against PartyPoker per se, just the guys who arrive with their free adverts.

my guess...
Hi Geno,
Thanks for the reply.
I get it now. I agree forums are not a place for advertisements.
My guess would be that it's people invovled in the party poker "refer a friend" system rather than party poker itself. But that's just a guess.
About as good of a guess as what the guy that just reraised me preflop is holding...... lol
This is a great site. Thanks!

Party is rigged
I am now convinced 2 weeks ago i got tired of going no where in 1/2 on Party so i bought in with a $1000 and went straight to 3/6 in 8 days I won $1'650. I cashed out 2k leaving myself $650 then I got an e-mail offering me 15% deposit bonus $100 max so I deposited a $1000 played the required hands & cashed my $1000. In the next 5 days I went broke $750 losing to people who played 72 suited and K2 off. Flopping top pair only to be beat by someone with bigger pocket pair having pocket Ks beat by pocket As on and on until i went broke In my opinion it is simply not possible at my skill level to lose that much to people who barley know what thier doing in 5 days. I made a earlier post about my doubts of the legitamacy of online cardrooms most of you blieve they are legit., I however am now convinced THEY ARE ALL FIXED I,m not sure how exactly but I no longer have any doubt.

I go through the same kind of swings at party poker all the time. I am not convinced that they are running some "funny" business, but I wouldnt be surprised either.
For you example, think about this. The same reason you were able to win $1600+ in short order is the same reason you dropped the next $650. Tons of stupid callers going all the way to the river w/ junk hoping to catch a card.
However-one sit and go I played this week I had a 70-80% more TC than anyone else. I have 10 10, bet 4x blind to get heads up. Flop comes 3 4 10. I bet pot on the turn, I am called. Turn is rags, I go all in and am called. J on the river-lose to pocket jacks. Now I am down to about 700TC. 3 hands later I have QQ. Call a small raise w/ 4 others. Flop comes 7 8 Q. Someone in early position bets 100TC, 2 callers, I move all in. All but one fold. K comes on the turn, I lose to pockets Ks.
Crap like that-getting beat by the next highest pair on the turn and river after flopping the highest set within 4 hands seems to happen WAY too often.
You can win at partypoker, but only if you want to play a style that would get you clean out anywhere else.

Hey Dave:
Unfortunately Partypoker is not the only place where that kind of crap happens. Yesterday was my day for bad beats. I lost withh AA twice and with KK several times. I am not just talking about going all in preflop and losing either. The following two hands illustrate just how bad people can be at PS just like party poker.
I was in a $20 nl tourney had about 2500 TC and blinds were 50/100. I was in small blind and had red AA There were three callers and I reasied it to 200. everyone calls. The flop comes 2c 6c 10s. the big blind bets 200 the three callers fold and I am trying to put this guy on a hand. Is he on a flush draw or did he hit a set? Well, of course, I go all in. He had about 200 tc less than me and after only a slight hesitation he calls. I'm thinking great this guy is on the draw and will probably hit the flush.
Well he was playing Q 10 offsuit - neither of which was a club!!!!
I'm thinking "Thanks for the chips MORON". The next two cards were. . . . Thats right, you guessed it, QQ. I almost crapped my pants.
I was in another $20 nl when i got Ak offsuit - slowplayed it and the flop was A K 3 rainbow. one guy bets 100 (he had around 2000 tc) and it folds to me I put him all in (I only had around 2300 tc). He calls (no hesitation mind you) with A 5 offsuit. he typed in good game see ya later (thinking he was beat) as he was hitting runner runner for the str8.
Ah well, at least the second guy had the decency to apologize for a bad beat, and at least he had aces. The first guy called an all in bet with only two overcards neither of which was very strong. ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG !!!!!!!!
I had to take the rest of the night off becayuse I was so steamed.
Oh yeah, I also have to agree that there is alot of funny stuff that goes on in the rooms. I have seen far to many people bumping pots and then another player goes over the top after several people call. The original raiser will then fold. I have noticed the same people doing this again and again in the same level rooms. The poker sites all claim that they watch for this kind of thing, but I hate to say that I think that is B.S.
The sites don't care who wins as long as the rake is there.
I have stopped playing in rooms completely, and will only play in full sized tourneys and sit and gos.

Just remember this Tralfaz: "I've heard good players complain to me about how they get drawn out on all the time," Baldwin (Bobby Balwin WSOP winner) said after the 1981 tournament. "But if they want to better their game and better their emotional state while playing, they should realize it's a mirage. If you are an excellent player, people are going to draw out on you a lot more than you're going to draw out on them because they're simply going to have the worst hand a lot more times than you have the worst hand against them. There's no way you're going to draw out on anybody if you don't get all your money in there on the worst hand."

Well, that SEEMS pretty true anyway. Sorry you were beaten. I would put that as a sig but it's waaay too big. Just remember it though, that is a world class player giving his thoughts on beats.

Here is the other side of the coin....1st hand of a $30 sit and go at Party I have AK. I raise 60-75 TC or something (start w/ 800). 2 callers, blinds fold, 300 pot. Flop comes K 9 2 or something. I bet 350-both call. Now I am not so sure. Turn is an A, I go all in...both call! River rags, I win w/ the top 2 pair. One dude has K 6 the other pocket Qs.
I guess they thought I was trying to steal by betting 350 after the flop. But it is cheaper to fold 60-75 versus going all in w/ not much. I was happy, 1 hand and I have 1/3 of the chips on the table.

That's a pretty good result for AK. I KNOW this is supposed to be a great hand, but I lose most of the time with it (especially online). I've gotten to the point where I will only raise with AK in very LP, and will only limp in EP, and might consider folding if raising is capped before it gets back to me. Also, I will fold AK if the flop misses it completely and others bet before me (if nobody bets before me, I will bet out with AK even if the flop misses it). I still usually lose with it though
