Hello... I'm the owner of the site (http://www.discountcasinogear.com)
I can ASSURE you that we do not mark up shipping. If the shipping cost is high, it might be because where you are located in relation to where it's being shipped (Ohio).
The shipping costs come STRAIGHT from UPS's web site. We don't do any fancy computations to compute it. The weight of the product and where it's shipping from and too is sent to UPS's servers during the check out process.
In fact, I'd be willing to give you the weights and you can even go to UPS's web site and find out how much shipping is so you can make sure what I'm telling you is the truth. If we overcharge you shipping, we will gladly refund the amount we overcharged.

Im gonna have to disagree with you on that. I saw that you ship from 3 locations, las vegas being the farthest one. I have sent items via UPS that were 8 lbs and cost me $11 to ship to California from here. How much can 14 chips weigh?? Not $12 worth. That's like a dollar for every 10 grams??? Not trying to be an ass, just making a point. I was ready to order 2 of each new paulson chip but its just not worth it with the cost of shipping.

Those shipping prices are based upon Trademark's shipping prices where the chips are drop shipped from. Trademark (aka 5stardeal and pokerchipshopping) does have high prices for small shipments. They also have a maximum charge of 19.95 for shipping for their retail consumer sales which works out well when you're order 500+ chips. I'd take pity on the smaller retailers with wholesale accounts with Trademark whom I'm told do not have a cap on the maximum shipping charge. And since they do ship by UPS, you might also want to take a look at UPS's shipping charges these days, they're not cheap, especially if you're looking at small 1-2lb packages with the fuel surcharges. I recently ordered 600 chips in 3 200 chip sets from 5star along with some racks and cards and the package was 29 lbs. The 19.95 maximum charge saved me about $7 from what UPS's rate was for a 29 lb parcel.

Nickmast, I understand and don't think you're being an a$%.
Let me explain further. I have 3 locations. Where it ships from depends on what you order. For examples, my manufacture for custom tables is in New York. My professional casino supplies come out of Las Vegas. But I can't stand that supplier because they are a pain to work with so I went and marked all of there products "out of stock". The reason for that is because I never know if anything they have is in stock and they're always catching me by surprise. So I only sell those products if customers really want them, and are prepared to wait. But the Paulson chips definitely ship from Trademark in Ohio.
Trademark adds a small handling fee to shipping charges for small orders shipped by UPS, so I'm forced too also. I think it's something like $5 for orders under $100. Don't quote me on that.
We can ship samples standard mail for 3.95, but currently our site doesn't support regular mail so we handle it on a case by case basis, manually outside the system.
As for the 19.95 maximum charge, please compare the total cost of the order. 5Star's prices are higher and that is how they can afford to cap at 19.95. Our prices are extremely low. 95¢ for paulson's compared to $1.35 the last time I looked. Once you factor in the price differences, it should more than cover the difference in shipping.
