You will see so many beginners think they have a flush when there are 4 on the board and they have one in their hand. Another one to watch out for is this scenario:
Your hand: AK89
Board: AAQQ2
You do NOT have a full house. Your hand is AAAKQ. For anyone to have a full house in their hand, they have to either have AQ or 22 in their hand (If they had AA or QQ, they have quads, so who cares).
I recommend getting on your favorite poker client and doing a bunch of Play Money Omaha just to see how the final hands are decided. Don't use it for strategy too much, because...well...IT'S PLAY MONEY!
Good luck!

i don't think i will forget to use 2 of my hole cards. this fact has been drilled into my brain now.
as for doing some test runs, i'm way ahead of you on that thought, i will definitely be putting my hold-em habit aside for the week and playing omaha on UB instead.

So, i played and lost about 10,000 play moneys! many times i would just call right down to the river just to see how things usually play out so i could get a feel.
today i'm breaking out the old SS2 and reading that during lunch.

I just got a great book, Championship Omaha by T. J. Cloutier. I should start reading it by this weekend. I am just finishing up re-reading SS2 Omaha section.
