playing pocket pairs
I have alway, always played any pocket pair, in any position, unless there is significant raising before me, I play low limit holdem so normally there si no raising. Anyway, I have recently had a thought, is it worth calling the like of 77, 88, 99 at all??? I thought this after my own bad experiences, getting beat EVERY single time I had medium pocket pairs, tt and JJ nornally get beat too. I must stress that the game is low limit, usually passive, so guys with Q2o will call and normally get there Q, if not then a guy will get K's.
I just want an opinion, at this type of game, is it really worth seeing the flop with these kind of hands??? They are drwaing hands in this game and the odds of getting your card on the flop is 8:1 right? thats bad pot odds to start so how do we play these hands?

yes the chances of flopping a set is about 8:1 but some people fail to realize that if you have a pocket pair, most of the time you are winning pre flop. i play low blinds no limit holdem so what i usually do is limp in of course trying to catch a set. if i dont catch a set, then i dont bet. its like the saying "no set no bet." but if im in late position and its checked to me, i'll raise, if someone calls, then im probably beat but i do have position if he does call. in side games i usually limp in and in tournaments i'll raise if no else has raised before me and depending a pre flop raise, i mite call. but pocket pairs are tricky to play and should be played with caution.

you cant get married to a pp. Dont be afriald to let them go. I will almost always take a flop with a pp, trying to hit my set.
