pocket 8's with loads of action
I'm already in the money, but with a raise, re-raise and all-in, was I right to fold?

Well it matters I supppose. How are these people playing? To me, I will sometimes call with a hand like this if I think my opponents are desperate. You are likely a dog to 3 other hands, but you might be getting a price to make it worth it. On the other hand, its possible two more players will get knocked out in this hand - so I might wait for a better spot. It looks like you are going to have to risk 3xBB (which is the majority of your remaining chips) to win 12X+ BBs. Thats not bad, considering you might have the best hand. However, if you want to move up two spots - not a bad desire at all - then a fold here isn't bad. The blinds have turned this into a crap shoot. So, if you do fold here, you are folding away like 1/4 of your chips - and you are very unlikely to win the event. If you call and win, you have a very strong chance to take this down...
I'm not sure what I would do, but both pushing or folding are reasonable.

With the exception of a significant price difference like Jauron said, my answer is no, but it's not a call you like.
You're about 4K if you fold this hand, with 675 going in next time no matter what you pick up. I'm not worried about the short stack, they could be pushing with just about anything.
Tough spot though with both big stacks involved. It's going to be a four-way pot unless one of them does something strange. Don't like 8s in that spot.
But, even if you call and lose, you get 4th place money unless short stack takes the four-way pot. If that happens, you're getting fifth place money whether you called and lost or folded, most likely, as short would triple up.
So I say get your money in there with something decent and a chance, if you get lucky, to position yourself well at the end of the tournament.

All-in I think the hand will play like this,
Jbdb3: raise 3995 to 5195 and is all-in
Jbhaynes: folds
Larson85: calls 395
Jbdb3: shows 88
larson85: shows KK
Gurimalla: shows A7
Looks like a 4 th place unless you hit the miracle card

jbdb3-me. I have been playing fairly aggressive. I have been raising every time zydust and larson85 were in the blinds. I knew this was risky, but they were both playing fairly tight, I was winning the blinds uncontested. Three hands earlier I lost an all-in prefop with pocket Jacks.
jbhaynes-Probably best player on the table. Plays tight aggressive but has gradually loosened up over the last 20 hands.
Zydust-Reasonably tight, but plays position well.
larson85-Reasonably tight.
gurimalla.-ultra tight (hasn't played any of the last 25-30 hands). Was chip leader and is gradually getting blinded away.

Pesonally, the ranges for the open raiser are very wide imo. And the short stack is super desperate. BUT the guy who min-raises preflop probably has some sort of hand - and he's raising for value. I think at best, you are in a coinflip against this player. However, you might be up against many hands with big cards - and they are taking each others outs. In this situation you aren't in that bad of shape.

personally i call here. because w/ 4xbb you arent getting any fold equity later and your not going to get many more oppurtunities to double up

In a situation like this my feeling would tell me to lay down my 88. I feel someone already has a larger PP. Another one most likely has a strong AX hand.
Take a deep look at the action...first you have a good player making a min raise preflop. This can be for two reason. Mostly I think it is to force someone to push.
Then you have a reraise by a reasonably tight player. This screams PP or AX.
After that raise you have a call by the biggest tightest player at the table and chip leader. So based upon this action I think I would have an easy time laying this hand down and skating into the money.
