Of the three, I was most impressed with Annie's comments.
I can't believe she noticed when every time that one kid was weak, he'd announce his raise to the dealer, and when he had a strong hand he didn't. Just goes to show you that you do really need to pay attention to ever little detail when playing live poker.
Martin played what I would call a perfect game, he won when he pushed and layed his hands down when he knew he was beat. Some of the other plays were, like the pros say, "donkified". They picked a good event for thier first episode.

The misdirected bet, that was a good catch by Annie. It also illustrates that being a math whiz from Yale (or whatever) doesn't make one a good player (I should say great player all the time, I'm sure he is a good player most of the time). That's one of the great things about poker, even the most uneducated player can still beat players with the loftiest of degrees. Heehaw!

I experienced something similar to this the other night. I was heads up with a guy and I had 2 pair and I put him on a draw. when he called me all in on the river...I had to stop and think....the way he was betting all hand was very decisive. he would throw in 10x big blind without even stopping. then I remembered him doing this several other times during the night....when he was full of shit.....he would slow play almost all of his good hands as well as some bad ones, but he never bet like this when he had a hand, so I call and take him down on his bluff. It felt pretty good because it was really the first time I was definitely sure that this particular guy was bluffing. I really feel like I'm starting to be able to pay attention to the people, the cards, and the game in general now because of reading a lot more about it in books and on this site.

i watched a lot of it instead of watching red sox slaughter. it was cool, but coulda been better if it wasn't JUST analysis. they coulda done a real poker corner with you know, pro player interviews, little poker related clips, like the nuts on the wsop. negreanu, annie, and hellmuth were cool though.

D-train: sorry bro, looks like the curse continues. I'm not really a Sox fan, unless they're playing the evil empire.
Whoever said that is a maroon! Congrats D-train and any other Sox fans. I just loved watching the evil empire completely CHOKE!

Heh. The good natured ribbing I enjoyed the most was on the rounders commentary:
Hellmuth: "Originally this part was written for me, Johnny, then they gave it to you."
Chan:"I wonder why that is, Phil?"
And Ferguson:
"What's the difference between a large cheese pizza and a pro poker player? A large cheese pizza can feed a family of four."
I'd really like to see poker cornor continue, it has the potential to make up for the jackass commentary during some of the poker broadcasts...but the network put it on during two ballgames and then complained about ratings ... it's on the edge of limbo, so be public with your good opinion if you liked it.
