"Poker Corner" - new show
Anybody watch the WPT last night and see the commercail for "Poker Corner"? I think they said it starts next week on Wednesday after the WPT show.
Anyway, they showed Hellmuth, Duke, and Negreanu sitting around giving comments on peoples play(I think they were critiquing the WPT show that aired prior).
Don't get me wrong, I think it may be interesting but how can you honestly comment on how people play when you see all the cards via the camera? I've seen all these people make bad plays on TV but I don't have a show to tell them how bad it was.
Who knows, maybe it will create some drama between the pros.

You mean Phil Gordon's comments on Celebrity Poker Showdown aren't enough?
I think it would be nice if both WPT and WSOP (ESPN) would have "guest analysts" on their shows. The guest analyst could be a top pro who got busted out late in the same tourney. This past year we could have had Jesus, Doyle, and Harrington as guest analysts for the last few episodes of the '04 WSOP.

blasphemy!!
the more people that play, the more money that is in the system
And the more popular it is, the more likely that people who don't have a clue how to play will sit down in the poker room instead of going to the blackjack tables or slots.

I thought so too. But if we're right, I guess its just that kind of chemistry that will be fun to watch on tv.

All of the hole card camera stuff doesn't happen until editing. It's not being broadcast live so they would have to splice the footage in.
On Hollywood Home Game they ARE NOT allowed to see other people's hole cards (a celebrity actually brought up this point) and I assume they're only watching from a single camera recording the action. They can only see what everyone else sees.

The Duke vs. Daniel rivalry is real. It seems as if it got smoothed over though.
As for guest analyst's......Harrington is boring as hell, Chris Ferguson wasn't very entertaining on the Rounders DVD...But Doyle would have been great.
Daniel Negraunu is probably the most engaging personality in the game...He is fun to listen too.

Has this rivalry been substantiated on anything more solid than an internet message board? ANYONE could have written in and then responded.
The messages on the board in question were written by Daniel, this is not up for dispute, he made several "open letters" criticising Annie Duke's character.
Daniel has made several criticisms of his fellow pro's on internet message boards, most recently, Phil Laak (?) for his Unabomber persona and Chris Ferguson for the "Jesus" thing.
Daniel seems to feel that as he himself is whiter than white this gives him licence to criticise anyone he wishes.
I have pretty much lost any respect i had for his character, altho of course, he is still an incredible player.

I always found Ferguson to seem like a really decent guy...first hand accounts in poker nation and positively fifth street paint him in a decent light, too...I don't think he has a "jesus" persona, I think it's just a name that gets hung on him due to a physical resemblence...
As for the pinhole cams, they COULD be set up to be veiwable live, or they could be added in production.
As for Duke and Dan. N....
"I hate you Ann."
"I hate you Dan."
"Ahm...I happen to be a TV producer. Here's several hundred thousand dollars."
"I love you Ann."
I love you Dan. . . at least till someone yells 'cut.'"

Thanks for the revelation! The fact that it isn't broadcast live has nothing to do with it. "Poker Corner" probably isn't a live broadcast either, but I'm sure they tape it after the editing for the WPT episode has been completed. If that's how they do it, the guest pros will see the hole cards just like we do at home.

I thought it was decent, I enjoyed it. Hellmuth is actually a likeable person when he's not throwing a tantrum. It was interesting to see their perspective on different hands. deKnijff played so well he didn't give them much to criticize but some of the other players more than made up for it.
There was some slight disagreement/tension between Hellmuth and Sexton which now that I think about it, isn't that surprising. Sexton has already given his impression on their play during the show and you knew someone would disagree with his initial comments at some point.
Of the three, I was most impressed with Annie's comments.
D-train: sorry bro, looks like the curse continues. I'm not really a Sox fan, unless they're playing the evil empire.
