When can you show your cards?

Postby Sedgewick » Wed Aug 20, 2003 9:29 am GMT

I've been watching the 2003 World Series of Poker and I'm pretty sure I've seen players show their cards before the river is placed. Are there any rules for showing your cards before the showdown?

Thanks.
Sedgewick

If one player goes all in and only one person calls, it is OK to show your cards. If you go all in and 2 players and betting in a side pot-you should NOT show your cards.

^ Yes, that is correct. But you can ALSO show your cards after you win before the flop when you've been uncalled, you know, you advertise a bluff or something. And you can also show your hand when you fold if it's a crappy hand so it doesn't matter you showed it. You should NEVER show tough laydowns, like throwing away two-pair when you read your opponent for trips.
