Worst Tourney Performance Ever ???

Postby wEbMaStEr » Sun Apr 11, 2004 8:46 am GMT

Ok I broke withe tradition (for me) in 2 ways last night!
1stly i bought into a $50 multi table tourney (about 100 or so players winner took home about $2.5k or something i had my eyes on it anyways  )
2ndly i decided that as this was a big tourney (for me) i would forego my sitting out 1st couple blinds tradition in an effort to maximise my chips

ok so tourney starts and very 1st hand sb, bb, everyone folds round to me, 1 player after me, I have A2os and raise double bb, next guy folds, sb calls, bb calls.

flop 6 A 2

GREAT! i flopped 2 pair

sb raises 300, i'm like :?:
bb folds
ok so he has an A, i raise to 600 he calls

turns a rag he raises 300 i call, river's a rag he checks i raise all in thinking he has A, kicker.

showdown: i show 2 pair A 2
he shows 2 pair A 6

so all in all my whole tourney lasted around 1 minute

i can laugh about it now, but lets just say i had to buy a new mouse this morning 8)

I think i'll go back to sit & go's for now

While it is unlucky...the raising the BB with A rag threw me off a little...A 2 is a pretty bad hand, especially since a lot of people will play A3-A6 like it's AK.

lol @ groton...hahaha...i wish i would never be in ur position....~ although i would never go all in blind with AA on the first hand of the tourney... since the blinds are soo small...i would've play slow and build a nice lead~

yeah blinds were 10/20 this was 1st hand remember, so the raise with 1 player then sb & bb was merely an attempt to take the blinds because they were there really, if i had callers and flopped anything less than 2 pair not another penny woulda gone in the pot.
Aces with a 2 kicker aint a hand :P

hey everyone, my first post on this site!

My worst tournament experience had to be... 3 weeks ago i won an entry into a 100+9 multi table tourny on UB. I was pretty excited because I had been winning a lot in the past few days, SnG's and table games.... The fifth hand I was delt I had a AK offsuit. I bet half my stack, one other guy called.

Me- AK
Him- ??

Flop- 6 K 3

I bet big again, he called right away which made me a little nervous...

Turn- 9

Same thing i bet but then he re-raised... I call

River- A

I have KKAA9, a very strong hand, a flush was not possible so I thought I had this in the bag. We both flip, his pocket was KK.

My hand still hurts from punching my desk....

More reasons not to play the first few hands in any tournament unless you get AA (even then don't get married to it). More likely than not you're going to get some guy who are willing to go all-in with very marginal hands (and then outdraw you). Let them take each other out. I don't know why you guys were playing Ace rag anyway, especially that early. I doubt I'd risk my chips early in the game with ace rag unless I made a boat.
