(bear with me... i'm not sure how to explain what i'm asking)

lets say you host a NL game. and lets say that it starts at 10/20. 10/20 isn't the blinds... (sb would be 5, bb 10... if you're doing things the standard way) and it's not the limit, since it's a NL game.

what is that called then... the 10/20. what's the term. not blinds, not limits... what the heck is that called? or is it called anything?

my appologies if this question makes no sense. LOL.

I am a little confused by your question but i think i know what your asking. If it is a 10/20 game then it is limit not no limit. The blinds would be 5/10 and the limits you can bet are 10 for prflop and postflop and 20 on the turn and river. If it is a 10/20 no limit game then the blinds would be the 10/20. If this isnt what you were asking then just ignore me. lol

You have your NL and limit hold'em bunched together.

In NL, the only #'s express the blinds. At 10/20, those would be the blinds. The minimum bet/raise after that is 20.

Ballbp - If they were the bets, it would be a limit game, not NL.

I see what you're saying. I just thought they would be referred to as the minimum bets in NL but still the bets none the less.

The minimum bet is usually the blind at first then what the other person raised. If no one has raised then you have to at least raise as much as big blind was. If i raise 100 dollars and you want to reraise it has to be at least 200.

okay... so let me clarify... if you're playing a NL game, you DON'T have a two tiered min-bet structure (e.g. 10/20 = 10 first two rounds, 20 last two rounds)...

instead, the min bet is always the BB and you just have a blind structure... meaning sb/bb = 5/10 for first hour, 10/20 second out... etc. (obvioulsy the amounts and time differ per game).

is that correct? therefore in a NL game, 10/20 would be the blinds, and in a limit game 10/20 would be the betting structure?

Yes that is correct. In limit the blinds are half of the first bet and the first bet for small and big respectively.
