runner, runner

Postby Always_Bored » Wed Apr 21, 2004 6:42 pm GMT

I had 10, 6 both spades on BB. no one raised so i checked. Flop comes 10, 2, 6 rainbow. one guy bets. I raise minimum to sucker him in for more. He reraises minimum and I call all in. He calls. He has K,J offsuit. The turn and river comes K then J. What are the odds of that?

If we allow for the King and Jack to come up in either order (eg KJ or JK) and we ignore that JJ or KK gives him a set which beats u, then:

Odds of turn being one of em - 6 in 45
Odds of river ALSO being one of em - 5 in 44

MULTIPLY them cos u need BOTH to happen and it's not pretty:

0.015% or 1 in every 66 times.

Nothing u can do unfortunately. The way I see it, u played it right, he had no right to call KJ to an all-in with that flop!

[If that maths is wrong, some1 tell me!]

I guess you missed my post about the AA runner to runner against me?

I'm holding 66
He's holding QA

Flop.. KQ6.

I go all in knowing he'll call (standard protocol these days.. all-in means your bluffing).

Turn... A
River... A

Real odds are 0.00303% or 1 in 330. Online poker odds are 1 in 10
