Best Chip Dealer?
Greetings,
This has been asked before, but I wanted to ask if anyone has a list of recommended vendors for the 11.5 500 Chip set deals? I am seeing prices of $125 to 150$ but have seen auctions on ebay for $110, but of course I dont recognize any of the ebay sellers?
I have heard that you can get poor quality 11.5 chips in which the ink has bled and the detail is not very good which is what I am trying to avoid. I have seen on here that the 5star folks sell a quality 11.5 chip, but I wanted to ask if any knows any others?
Thanks!

I'll second Jkeats' post. From all i've seen, the heaviest 100% clay chip is only about 9-9.5grams. Anything heavier is either not 100% clay or has a metal slug(more likely).

Actually there are two ways to weight the "clay" chips without the metal "core." At one time they put brass shaving or powder in chips and gave them extra heft...although that's really rare and I think no one does it anymore. The other way is to construct a chip around a metal center--most Bud Jones (a US manufacturer who's made a lot of Nevada chips and seems to make all the chips for casinos in Puerto Rico) are like that. The rim of those chips is typically decorated with dice or suits and edge spots. The center inlay--usally nickle or stainless--is exposed and has the denom and the casino. I really don't care much for them. Because the graphics are so elaborate that can now be fused right into the chip body, Bud Jones-style chips are less and less popular with casinos.

hmm... i thought pokerchips.com added brass shavings into their chips. Can anyone clear this one up?
