New Dealer Buttons / Blinds and Card Protectors!
I've been laying low (busy making custom pieces for board members actually!) but I thought I'd share a little bit about some new card protectors (some of which are for members of TH-P) and how we make them. We're introducting stainless steel 1.5" x .20" big and little blinds as well which perfectly match our dealer buttons!
Check out my site or PM me here if you have any questions.
First I get an image from a customer, in any format, and I convert it to a line drawing that our machines can understand, a .DXF (2D autocad file as it were.) It would look like this...
We then will take a sheet of pure 3/8" brass and cut the desing to within .0001" tolerance. It looks like this...
From there, we take a 2" 303 solid stainless steel bar and slice disks from it, .333" (1/3") thick. This alone takes 30 minutes. We then put it on a lathe and cut a nice bevel around the edge to make it easy to pick up from your cards. Then we bead blast the metal to give it a matte finish, and use the same design as above to cut FROM the steel. After which we press the brass completely through the steel so that it is perfectly flush on the backside, but the brass sits ever so slightly from the top of the button. This makes it easy for you to care for or polish the brass. We then engrave anything the customer asks for onto the CP.
The final piece ends up like this - (Those on the board that have them will tell you that the finished product looks much better than the pictures show, it's hard to use a flash on polished engraving, etc and have it look right!)
So there ya' go. We spend anywhere from 4 to 8 hours making these pieces, each one is unique and special to the owner. Many of them tell me I don't charge enough
but it's a labor of love, and I'm a hold'em lover.
Here's a few other examples we've done. I'm still waiting for someone to ask for the batman symbol!
I have many others if anyone wants some examples to get their wheels spinnin'. Just shoot me a PM here.
Take care guys!

Yep, we actually cut the brass slightly larger (we're talking thousandths of an inch here) than the steel 'hole' so it's in there for good. You'd need a big hammer to get it out!
