what are these odds?

Postby Dave B » Mon May 03, 2004 9:21 am GMT

Interesting finish to a SNG, I had 5600TC in a $30 SNG. 2 other players, both had about 1200. I am in the small blind (400/200 blinds), button goes all in. I call w/ A8 off suit, big blind calls.

Cards come A and a bunch of junk, I win. Button had J10 suited, big blind had 88.

Question-who had the advantage preflop? I was an big underdog heads up to 88, I was a favorite heads up to J10. J10 suited to 88 was a race.

I would guess that A8 was about 25%, 88 was 40% and J 10 was 35%? No big deal, it just got me thinking and I didnt immediately know the answer.

88 was 32.4%
JTs was 43.3%
You were 24.3%

all before flop.

Thanks-go figure. I would have thought that 88 was the favorite over j10 suited. Good to know.

I'm sure it would be heads up, but remember that you have one of his 8s, which takes away one of his outs. And some of his outs may help you where they wouldn't help him anymore because you're in the hand.
