Not all 11.5s are equal?

Postby bought » Mon May 03, 2004 12:50 am GMT

I bought a 500 piece 11.5 chip set from pokerchipmart and compared with my friend's 500 piece 11.5g dice chip set from vegassupplies.

I got mine for 6 cents cheaper per chip than he did [ 16 vs 21 now 19].

The results?
His chips seem more evenly made [when I have a stack of 10ish, and I spin the chips, sometimes on 'uneven chips' the chip stack will spin very easily], and have more of a 'clay feeling' more dry. The colors were less vibrant [for example, my reds were brighter than his maroonish red] As were the greens and blues. My whites have a blueish tone around the dice dots, his have a clean white dot.

I'm just wondering if some chips are more 'clay' than others?
I don't really care about if it's inferior, the thing that I care about is the weight, which is 11.5 and I'm fine with that. [Besides it's about being good at the game right?]

Their are three different companies that make the 11.5 gram dice chips. One company is far superior than the others and I think they are the Diamond Company.

One of the dice mold chips is horrible and I can't remember the name of the manufacturer.

Their really is no way of knowing what you will get when you order on eBay.

Mr. Dice above sells chips and I expect that he knows what he's talking about. I commend him for refraining from soliciting business with that last post. Of course he's right, if you just buy a set at auction you get what you get: caveat emptor [Let the buyer beware].

Your best bet is to email the ebay seller, ask for a sample (which he will likely charge you for] then bid on his next set or negotiate a purchase outside the auction.
