Did i play this wrong?
I was playing a 25 dollar No Limit Cash game at a friends house with 25 cent/ 50 cent blinds.
This hand was towards the later part of the night. My friend only had about 2.50 left and he went all in. I looked down to see Aces, i only called hoping to get another caller, which i did.
The Flop comes Q 5 4 rainbow. The other caller bets 2 dollars. I know this person is pretty agressive and raise him 5. After thinking about it he calls.
The Turn card is a 10. He checks, and i think this is where i think i made my mistake as i checked too.
The river brings a 2 and he bets 3 dollars. I call this, to find he has Q 2, and i lose.
Where did i go wrong, or did i just get bad luck.

I probably would have fired again on the turn, but if your buddy was aggressive, anything short of 100-200% of pot probably would have gotten a call anyway.
So I would have played it differently and lost more money!

I would have bet big on the turn.
If he was agressive like you say he would have re-raised you with QQ, 55, 44 or holding two pair at flop. Since he didn't, you know you hold the best hand at the time. Fire away big and make think twice about playing that weak azz kicker.
JMHO ofcourse, and doing that could cost you alot of $ if was recklessly agressive and called you anyway.
What was your table image btw based on past hands with this player?
Would he have likely put you on a hand better than his with a big bet at the turn and folded?

Yeah thats where you made your mistake. You showed him you were strong. He checked. You should have moved in. Maybe not all in but enough to make him think it over, It would have been a tough call with top pair lowest kicker. I would only check the turn when you have a hand thats a 90% favorite. Hoping even if he catches a card theres a slim chance he can win.

I agree that your check after the turn was your mistake. You allowed him to see a free card that beat you. If you had of bet big there he most likely would have folded if he knows anything about poker. Dumb players dont usually think about kickers and just see a pair and will call anyways.

That day i had more or less a pretty tight table image. USually im a mix between tight and loose, but i was pretty tight that day.
The person i was playing with was playingn unbelievaly agressive, callingn 4 dollars pre flop w/ A 3 (which i lost w/ my jacks). I knew if he had top pair or a mid pocket pair he wouldn't hav folded. The way he was playing that day i probly would hav lost more money, but i wouldn't hav felt better about the way i played it. W/e it was a learning experience.

I think that not betting on the turn is the mistake there, but you already know that. If you think you have the best hand, unless there is virtually no chance that you can be beaten even if the guy catches another card he needs, then you should make 'em pay to see them. Now, if the guy is an idiot and doesn't know when to lay them down, then ur right...it would have just cost you more money anyway so it's a good thing you checked the turn... When I play against these "calling stations", I always hammer away at them when I think I have the better hand and they are drawing. That way, when they don't catch I take a big bite out of their azz and they think twice about calling with rags against me the next time. Sometimes, they will catch and you'll end up costing yourself more money on that particular hand, but in the long run you'll train them that you are not someone to be trifled with when you make a strong bet. That also sets up the bluff for you. You want him to fear a strong bet from you, not the other way around. IMHO it is a mistake to try too hard to trap a loose player/idiot...they are too dumb to lay down a loser anyway so make 'em pay for it. Also keep in mind that the danger of laying the trap is when it springs on you...
