what would u do?
I was playing in another $25 no limit game 25 cent/ 50 cent blinds. There were 6 people.
I was on the button, and looked down to see J 10 suited. It was folded to me, and i raised to 1.50. It was pretty early in the nite, and we all more or less had the same amt of chips.
Both blinds called. The flop came J 10 4 Rainbow. Big blind bet a dollar, and i raised him 3 more. Small blind folded, Big called after a few min. I figured he had a 10.
Turn came 9. He checked to me, i bet 4 bucks. I was pretty sure he didn't hav a strait. He took a good 5 - 10 min, but he eventually called. I was now pretty sure he had the 10.
The river came a 7, puting a strait out there. He bet 5 dollars.
Before i say wat i did, wat would u guys do.

At that point I'd have to fold. Whether he had the 8 or not he could have been playing pocket J's or 10's but he didn't raise like he had them after you bet the flop. I'm not sure what I'd put him on for sure but I wouldn't have called it.

If he thought that long on the turn, I don't put him on a set for sure. I bet he's either trying to steal it, or has two pairs thinking he has the best hand.
But you have the top two pair. I call.
He has to put you on something good, at least, when he called your bet on the turn after he checked. If he had his straight, wouldn't it be the perfect time for him to trap you?? By checking-raising, could make a lot of dough.
I play those exact same home games sometimes, and you see that kind of play very often. I'd say 35-40% of the time they have a real hand. On those occasions, picking up tells from them is very important IMO.

I would fold that hand in a heartbeat, but I tend to be paranoid. My biggest fear is that he has QK and his initial pause was whether or not to call your raise after the flop with the outside str8 draw. The theatrical 10 min pause on the turn was whether to check-raise you with the nuts or whether to let you keep digging your hole with the understanding that if the board pairs on the river he might be sunk by a full house. His bet on the river is to make sure that he gets paid for his K-high str8... doesn't want you to check fearing an 8. Better yet, if by some chance you have a set, an 8, or 8 Q, you might reraise and he'll crush you with the nuts. The factors at play here are:
1. He called a pretty substantial preflop raise, so he probably has a hand. That typically means a pocket pair or overcards, maybe suited connectors depending on how loose the guy is
2. He bet into you after the flop...either he is testing the waters or he has a hand. That means a set or straight draw in this instance. The fact that he called your raise should serve notice to you that he has something related to that particular flop.
3. He bet into you on the river. This can only mean one of two things. One - he knows he is dead and is just trying to steal the pot by representing the str8. Two - he has a hand that is so strong that he doesn't really care if you want to reraise...he's ready to go at it.
Yes, you have top two pair and cannot be blamed for calling that river bet (personally, it would depend on what I think of the guy as a player and how much money I had - in this case I'd fold). Under no circumstances would I raise him though...that is asking for real trouble IMHO.

Good fold nonetheless. He is not a very good player if he called the preflop raise and then the raise on the flop with 8 10. If you play tight against him and bet strong with quality hands, he'll finance your children's education over the course of a lifetime. lol
