5/10 WPT-biggest bonehead ever
Not that I completely blame him, he just didnt hear all of it, but Miz vs Scott, 44 vs 65 in the blinds, Scott N raises from the small, Miz calls.
Flop K97, Scotty bets, Miz calls
Turn, 4, check check as Scotty traps w/ the set
River 3, Miz has nuts, Scotty checks again to trap
Miz bets like 120k to a 300k pot. Scotty puts the hollywood act on. Then says, "I dont know how I can call". He then says "I raise" and puts out enough chips to match the bet-planning to go back for raising chips after announcing verbal.
The Grinder shows his 65-believing that Scotty had just called and not check raised.
The tournament director comes over and makes a horrible decision. He allows Scotty to NOT raise and just call. Miz illegally showed his cards, but the raise should have held up. They did say that it is a 10 minute penalty for exposing your cards, but it is not a dead hand.
These 2 were the chip leaders and it was early. But calling the bet on the flop w/ 65 and board of K 9 7 , then 4 and 3-it would be real tough for Scotty to get away from his set. Nyugen went on to win the tournament. Heads up vs the Grinder went one hand, AJ vs AQ. At the time, all 6 players were still in.
