How does AH 4D beat KC JH when the board is ...

Postby killflex » Sun Apr 23, 2006 10:03 pm GMT

I was watching TV and I saw the following

Player 1: AH 4D

beating

Player 2: KC JH

The board is ...

KD AC JD 5H 5D

I was wondering how does Player 1 beat Player 2?

Player 1 has 2 pair, Aces and 5's. Player 2 has 2 pair, Kings and Jacks. The 5 on river saved player one.

Isn't the board a community set of cards though. I don't see how the pair 5 on the board only helps player 1 and not player 2

Player 2 can't have 3 pairs. His hand remains with his two best pairs, Kings and Jacks, but Player 1 however lucks out and ends his hand with Aces and 5's.

Yep, you got it. No problem. If you have any more questions, just post 'em and someone will glady be there to answer them. 8)
