NL Tournaments

Postby Fooge » Sat Jan 25, 2003 3:57 am GMT

I say best strategy in online tournaments is to play tight the first two rounds of blind structures. Then when it comes to the third to fifth blind structure start opening up and using position as a key factor in playing hands. Raising is very important when u got position. Also attack when people are just trying to get to the final table. Accumulate enough chips to be in the top three stacks at final table. I say 80% of the time the one of the top three chip leaders win the tournament.

That sounds exactly like the strategy in T.J. Cloutier's book... You been readin' up?

:)

That strategy sounds pretty good to me. The name of the game is survival, and you need to adjust quite a bit from regular ring game play.

If this is TJ's strategy, then I gotta read.

Interesting stuff... I play tight in the first two rounds myself, but I'll open up a little early and play something given position and players such as Ace 7 suited on the button/late position. I'm not too worried about losing in the first round as the losses are not big enough to kill my bankroll.

Thanks for the tip.... time for some experimentation!

Ooops... is this strategy optimum for No Limit or Limit?

I was wondering if this advice adheres more to No Limit/Pot Limit poker.
