What is it with me and betting into the full house??!??

Postby Tralfaz » Sat Sep 27, 2003 5:23 pm GMT

Hey All:

you may remember my close 3rd place finish in the UB Aruba Satellite. I was in the game untill I bet a set into a full house. Well last night I did it again!!!

I was playing in a UB $100 + 9 tourney and was still in it with only 16 players left. (started with around 90 something). I had about 5500 TC and was in 6th place. I decided that I was going to play tight until the final table so I cold be assured of finishing in the $$. Well next thing I knowI have AK suited so I limp in to see what happens. I flop the nuts flush and at least two people before me bet 1 - 2 k. Instead of knocking them off the pot I just called. well of course the board pairs 5's and one guy bets 3k. I truely didn't believe that he had the full house! I figured he was trying to steal the pot or had a lower flush.

well, I called and next thing you know I'm out around 4 - 5 k to a full house 5's full of 8s (I think it was 8's) so I'm knocked out in 16th place after 2 1/2 hours of playing. If I hadn't gotten greedy I would easily have made it to the final table and at least doubled my $$.

What is wrong with me, you'd think that I would have learned from the mistake that kept me from winning the Aruba trip. . . BUT NOOOOO!

Someone smack me in the head please. Ah! I guess its back to the drawing board. Has anyone else made the same mistake again and again like that. Its really frustrating, but I start thinking "with those chips I can WIN this thing" and All the self control that 've had for hours goes out the window.

Of course had I won that hand, I'd probably be crowing about it right now, but I realize that it was a stupid mistake its just hard to lay down suck a great hand in that situation. Any advice on this issue appreciated. Heeeeeelp!

geez :(

All I got to say is don't slow play the nut hands, especially when your opponents are loose and or already bet in front of you.

I still have trouble accepting people committing $109 in an online game but then I am nearly $20,000 in debt :P

U were unlucky man, we all understand the temptation to slow play the nuts and milk ur opponents but sometimes it bites u in the ass.
