Am I missing something here?

Playing on pokerstars the other night - 9 players at the table.
7 hands folded pre flop
good size raise ($200), called
2 hands see the flop - 3 spades
small bet ($30), called
turn is another spade
small bet ($30), called
river is another spade giving a king high flush on the table.
small bet ($30) , fold

What am I missing? Why did he fold? ...just for the chance of an Ace of spades??

All five cards count for flushes, not just the biggest one.
