"Oops, that's not the Nuts!"

Is a game me and my friends at my home game have "invented" though it obviously could already be a game.

(antes are small / big blind style)You start with 5 cards and is played in 5 card draw fashion.

You then bet, based on the strength of these 5, and then discard up to 5 and draw..

No betting after drawing,

you then flip 3 community cards...betting round.....a turn....betting round....and finally a river....and more betting.

Cards are then flipped over, and the best 5 card hand (using Any combination of the cards in the community or your hand) wins.

We have been playing this Pot Limit, and man is it sick!

Sounds like a bit of a lottery to me with 10 cards at everyone's disposal but I guess it could be fun. You can only have 4 players max in case everyone changes up 5 cards which is a bit of a drawback (unless you allow discards to be part of the deck?).

we've been playing it up to 6 people, seems nobody discards that many, but that could be a good idea, allowing the discards to be part of the deck.

It is a bit of a lottery in the luck factor, but it seems some people haven't caught on. How many times someone will hold TJQK to catch broadway, or 4 cards to a flush.. Knowing full well that almost every hand it takes a boat or better to win!

The only strategy I know, is hold any pair and try for three of a kind for boats.

But this game is nuts, had a guy flip over a boat, then the next guy have qauds, and the last guy had a straight flush... hence "oops that's not the nuts!"
