Pot limit play query
Dear All
posted a couple of times here, still a student - new to the game
if i can ask a question regarding how i played this hand, (low limit game)
i had K-10 offsuit and bet it pre flop, 3 players call (i am in last position now)
Flop comes A-Q-6, now first player checks as does 2nd, i raise pot, 1st player folds and 2nd one sits for next 2-3 mins thinking, now i amnt exactly on bluff as i have potential but i thought i could represent the aces as i acted first pre flop, did i do the right thing in trying to buy the flop there and then?
he called all in which was equal or just less than pot, next card comes a king and last card comes a Queen, he wins, but did i make the right bet?
thanks

There's no such thing as a "right" bet there.
Do you play loose, or tight? Do you have an image of being either? What about your other player? Do you typically raise big when strong, or only when buying?
If he's shortstacked and the bet will put him all-in, that will sometimes make people more willing to call, knowing they don't have to put too much on the line for a moderate hand. On the other hand, if it's a tournament, they might be more apt to lay it down.
There are about eight thousand intangibles that can make that play either a smart choice, or a stupid one. In this case, I have no idea.
It seems as if you're considering this a semi-bluff, which is correct. You did have outs. However, the chances of you falling into your straight are fairly low, and you have to be afraid that somebody pulled an ace. Obviously, like you said, you were mostly hoping for a fold, as you can assume that against a caller, you probably only win this pot about 10% of the time.. maybe slightly higher, depending on if your bet would ever be called by a queen or not.
So, there had to be a very, very good chance that this player will fold for this to be the profitable play, in my eyes. And maybe there was. Only you can make that judgement, at that time.
What were his hole cards by the way, just out of curiousity?

His hold cards were Q-8 offsuit
regarding his play, in general he is aggressive and sometmes plays rubbish whe he can get in for free and on that basis i made it expensive for him to play
i in general am quite tight and so it would rationale for him to make me for holding the ace in my eyes
thanks for your comment, i know this hand is very open but just like the opinions

I like a Check on the flop here. It gives you a free card to hit your str8, which you do.. then you can hammer him on 4th street. Unfortunatly for you, he drew out... Thats poker
