I've got a question concerning heads-up play.

Say you're on a tournament table and you manage to get to a heads-up. Now say you have 1000 chips left, and your opponent has 900 left.

Couldn't you technically, if you fold every single hand - no matter how good it is -, blind him to death? I mean, eventually the blinds would get him before you, right?

No, because he's not going to fold every hand, and eventually a hand will have to go to showdown.

To clarify, when the blind is equal to or greater than his stack, he will be all in and forced to play whatever is in his hand at that time.

No, because every time you fold he wins the blind. So how can he be blinded off?

Even if he only had 1 blind left, and you have 100Xblinds.
If you fold, he can't lose!

Yeah, good heads-up play is kinda the opposite of that. Stealing and defending the blinds becomes crucial, and players will push all-in with even marginal hands to try to steal the blinds.

Well I thought you pretty much summed up the critical flaw to this logic.

I.e. Blinds don't go to the house, so you can't simply outlast you opponent by folding ever hand until you both have almost nothing but he hits the felt first.

To win at headsup, just fold a lot. Wait for monsters.
