Soprano Chips @ 5stardeal
Has anyone seen or used the "soprano six stripe" chips offered at 5stardeal.com?
Here's the link: http://www.5stardeal.com/deals/10Expand ... de=10-1050
I think they're relatively new, and I couldn't find them on ebay or any other site. I'm in the market for a 500 chip set, and hadn't been able to decide on which of the 11.5g styles (dice, suited, etc.) when I came across these. While these are lighter (only 8.5g), I think they look pretty sweet.
Any thoughts on whether 8.5g will be heavy enough to feel pretty good?
Thanks

nice spamming post.
why they call these "soprano chips" other than to try and cash in on the tv's show's name i have no idea. i was expecting to see tony's face on them and was let down. nothing special about this chip IMO.

So forgetting the Soprano title and the spam implication, has anyone used the 8.5 gram 6-stripe chip, and if so, have they been pleased with them?
I would probably otherwise pick up chips of the 11.5g variety available everywhere. Some on other strains of this site have complained about the metallic insert and a corresponding 'clinky' sound of such chips. Perhaps the 8.5g variety don't have such an insert? Thoughts?
Thanks

sorry dude, but when we see "guest" under the username, alarm bells go off. spammers post here very regularly, so pardon the cynicism.
now, i have not actually used the chip in question, but i don't see it being much different from the others. if you want to step up in quality, you also have to step up in price unfortunately. plus the mis-leading name "soprano chip" kinda rubs me the wrong way, but that might just be me.
p.s. why not register and stick around the forum??? there's lots of good people here.

hey onns,
i was looking at those striped ones (8.5g) also. but it says it doesnt give me an option to get them hot stamped, which is what i want. i wonder why. i also like those dice faux clay ones since they are little bit heavier (10g) and supposedly feel like real clay chips. i can get those hot stamped but dont have those edge spots i like and are one color.
plus both are in my price range. my wife would kill me if i spent over $1 a chip.
anyway, if you hear anything (good and bad) about the striped ones or even the dice faux clay ones let me know. it might make my decision easier. just like you i dont want to get ripped off.

"Soprano" Chips
They are calling them "Soprano" chips because they show used that style chip in an episode of the show involving a high stakes card game. I have a sample of that style chips and it feels very cheap. It is just a "plastic" (no metal insert) 6 striped chip. I wouldn't buy a set of those. I got the sample from thepokerchipcompany.com I would get a (free) sample before even thinking about those chips.

The reason you cannot hot stamp these chips is because they have no metal insert.
