pairs and how to play them from early position in NL tourney

To my understanding the gap concept tells you to raise with hand you would rather call relating to ring games. So the QJ o had to be at least suited to to do so. But what about pairs if you are under the gun.

Another thing is a pair on the small blind nobody raises and I call that 25 blind to 50 dollar get 10- K-8 somebody raises and turn is a 4 well I folded already. Should I prevent that to say well everybody calls i will raise my 4-4 like 4/5 times the blind.

The guy won with a pair of tens. I find it tough.

A lot of questions, I aprreciate your knowledge

Thanks
