MrD - could you expand on why you would put a lot of money in preflop with TT? Anyone that calls is going to have a good hand. Any overcard on the board is potential disaster. Unless you hit your set, aren't you just betting that the other guy didn't pair up. Not to mention the villain might have a higher pocket pair.

When ever you raise (especially in a tournament) you want to reduce other players odd with worse hands to call and out draw you. And you need to raise even more being OOP. Its so hard to play OOP.

In this spot OP is likely to have the best hand. By raising enough one would suspect random hands with J, Q or K will not call.
Sure if an over card flopps you do need to proceed carefully, but if you are HU there is a good chance are your opponent will miss.

This is the reason I love poker. As long as theirs guys like this, I'm that little bit closer to making my first million.

What a night.(I was knocked out of another torny 30 minutes earlier when I went all-in with AQ offsuit. The other guy showed AQ offsuit aswell and he hit a straight). After this I decided to quit for the night!
