Postby blue eyes » Thu Oct 09, 2003 2:08 pm GMT

It's betting all your remaining chips on one bet. If you win you double up, if you lose it's off you go.

It can be the strongest and the most desperate of moves in the game but boy does it feel good when it comes off. There's nothing better than putting ur nuts on the line and getting away with it ;)

All in is when you bang a fat chick.

You are busted if your buddies catch you.

so just to be clear, your best outcome is only doubling your money, I assume this is more relevant in no limit games

you can win 2, 3, 4, 7 or even 9 times your money depending on how many people call.

If you are short stacked, it isnt unusual to that 2 or even 3 players call an all in bet.

all-in

Postby golddog » Wed Oct 15, 2003 3:06 pm GMT

It's not just a NL thing, it's a table-stakes thing.

Here's a good example of Dave's point.

Say you're in a limit 5-10 game, on the big blind, and only have $10 in front of you.

You're all-in for $10. The dealer will make a side pot out of everyone who calls you, and that's all you can win. You can't bet any more, but you also can't be forced out just because you can't cover subsequent bets.

There is another all-in specific to online games.

This means that when you are disconnected, you are counted exactly as though you have run out of table stakes (see answers above). What this means is that you aren't being penalised by being folded through no fault of your own.

I've seen this abused more than once when a player against me quite clearly deliberately disconnected, so he could be in to the river against me without putting in more cash. I won, but not as much as I would have otherwise. It's infuriating, but it does happen. Fortunately, most sites restrict the number of disconnect all-ins to one or two per 24 hours.
