Site updates
This might be one for Geno, one particular popular site seem to require software updating more often than others. My question is what could they be updating so often or are they colleting information from my computers. I don’t login from the same computer all the time, is this confusing their cookies and they really aren’t up-dating but gathering information for security reasons? If so what information do they gather?

If this was the case the application wouldn’t need to inform you. It would just do the data transfer in the background while you were playing.

Cookies are used by Browsers. Poker clients don’t require them to maintain information on you’re computer.

Bare in mind that the only information they would probably be legally permitted to gather would be pertaining to your gaming sessions, which they have access to any way without accessing your computer. That’s the nature of a client server relationship.
Not sure if any of this helps or answers you questions.
From an IT perspective I can say that patching and upgrading isn't unusual and the cycle can vary greatly. Bugs fixes, cosmetic improvements, performance enhancements, securing vulnerabilities, etc..
