PLO - lucky donk or what?

Postby LeeG » Mon Jul 14, 2008 3:46 am GMT

I decided to try a bit of PLO tonight. I've played some, but still have a lot of work to do.

CO: $15.75
HERO: $16.50

Pre-flop: (6 players) HERO is Button with 4 :diamond: 3 :diamond: 4 :spade: T

Flop: 2  9 :club: 4 :club: ($4.75, 3 players)

Results:
Final pot: $33.75

BB showed Kh Ks As 8s

Hand 2: This happened about 4 hands later. Play the flop like a set?

Hand 1: Muck preflop. It's a terrible hand. You want to be playing hands in Omaha that are connected in some way like 9987, 789T etc. T443, the T is too far away to make anything decent and if you hit the 4 it will likely be bottom set and you don't know where you are.

Hand 2: I am not too sure I like blasting the pot. That Kd brings a lot more draws for people and in a better game you may find the players just mucking those draws for that pot sized bet.

Hand 2, the KD gives me kings full. What would I be afraid of here? Or is it better to let someone else hit at the pot then come over top?

Hand 1, muck preflop, definitely fold to the raise. Post-flop is pretty standard. A lot of 25PLO players will jam with bare nut flush draw here, and maybe even naked AA since it's not a real scary board.

Hand 2, I probably try a smaller bet on the turn to try and tie him to the pot and continue with zero equity draws. Occasionally, I even check here, but I want to at least get some money in the pot most of the time.

Yes I know that but along with a load of straight draws it now brings a flush draw. I will want to be trying to sucker someone into calling if they think they have a good draw but are actually drawing dead.
