Smells like a larger pocket pair, or perhaps someone who has flopped the open ended. Someone who was playing a strong hand that still needs to improve (AQ, AK, AJ) would likely smooth call this raise, no? Come over the top all in, or fold. But a call here is terrible imho because the turn is unlikely to give you any insight as to where you are at in the hand.

When in doubt be a nit like me and fold your way to victory.
I figure he probably has a set, bigger pair, or high equity draw like AT/QT/T9.
Of course, I'm probably wrong like usual and he has air. lol donkaments.

I don't think he is bullying or bluffing you. 'cause you have too many chips.
This means you need to take his hand serioiusly.
Calling is not an option. It's either raise or fold.
Looking at the facts;
1)preflop he raised from mid position.
2)he check-raised you on the flop after you made a two-thirds the pot bet.
3)it's a rough flop and one that needs to be taken seriously.
If you push all-in and get called, you could be on the next train to donkville. If you push and he calls, you buy yourself a smoking jacket and big fat cigar.
I think you need a better hand. I fold.

I dont think AA/KK/QQ would risk checking that board as it gives the opportunity of a free card. I think he's either flopped a set or TT. I'd probably lay it down here because we're not beating enough of his range but if i had to put him on a hand its TT

Nah, I think a bet here is a must. If hes playing AQ or AK no way giving him a free card.Yozman wrote:is checking this an option to keep pot size down

This hand to me was pretty trickey, and after about using most of my time bank this is kinda what I came concluded to. After thinking about it, im sure if he nailed that flop he didnt want to give me a free card anymore then I wanted him to have a free card. But really whats a 4x BBr raise in a donkament mean?Kemics wrote:I dont think AA/KK/QQ would risk checking that board as it gives the opportunity of a free card. Anything over 3x usually means, my hand is good but plays like crap post flop most of the time. I think 99% of time its 99-JJ AQ, AK. Ok so we narrowed down his hand range in my mind and why would he just check the flop and not bet on this board. I was very close to folding then it hit me, he floped the nizzles or has complete air. From what I said ealier im sure if he had something here no way he would of let a card peal with this kind of board. With a 4x raise im pretty damn sure he does not have J10. So with this info I processed, I shove? what you guys think

Pushing is better than calling. I agree he probably does not have JT. But you know a nit like me still hates our hand since we have so little fold equity.
