Progen chips

I recently ordered some Grand Royale chips from a supplier in America (I'm in the UK). However, the guy I had been in correspondence with over the order had gone away for a few days and the wrong chips had been shipped out.

They have arrived today and it turns out they have sent Progen chips instead. The supplier has said I can send them back or keep them in a straight swap. Currently I'm temped to go with the swap to avoid the hassle of sending the progens back and waiting for the Grand Royales.

Clearly a straight swap is out of the question based just on the price difference.

Does anyone have any opinions on either chip?

First, it is unfortunate that activity on the Cards and Chips forum has died out in recent years--it used to be much livlier.

I agree with you that the price difference makes swapping the out unreasonable. I personally like chips with recessed centers as I like making my own labels for chips but if you aren't in to that and wanted the ready-made colorful chips then getting what you'd ordered is in order.

lol swapout for a cheaper product? I don't think so mister. Ask for reimbursement or 2-5x value in coupons for next time?

In terms of style, I like the one you previously ordered more (well the black/purp one definitely, and the teal and green ones are okay) but not by a serious margin. If the color split is okay I'd accept it as long as some $$$ got shipped my way. How likely is this actually "accidental"?

I'd completely forgotten about this thread.

I ended up keeping the progens and a refund of the difference in price. I wasn't thrilled with the outcome, but I didn't want to put up with the hassle of sending the progens back and waiting for the ceramics.

I've not had time to put them to use yet but they do seem to be decent chips. I'll probably end up getting some labels for them as I think they are a bit plain at the moment.

How likely is this actually "accidental"?

I'm not sure to be honest. I don't think they were trying to rip me off, but I think there is a chance that they didn't have the ceramics and were unwilling to admit it

I am glad to hear that you got a refund for the difference! Take heart though, Progens are not a BAD chip. they are in fact considered one of the better composite chips available and with a nice label design you can end up with a VERY attractive chips.

I had done a label design, called "Private Cardroom" (not to be confused with Paulson Private Cardroom hot stamps) which was produced for a chip nearly identical to the Progen (sometimes called the Great Wall or Wallson). These were very popular as labels for folks with Progens as well.

Point being ... Progens can dress up VERY nicely!
