Is a 180 seater sng classed as a MTT?

Postby jimmer » Fri Oct 17, 2008 10:16 am GMT

Unsure if this is a stupid question or not.

Due to time, I don't play many tourneys or sng's. However, when I do have the time I play the 180 seater sng's.

The reason I play these are because I think this is a good way to judge how I am progressing. I know there are 162 players to beat to get into the money, I know the tournies take around 4 hours, I know the blind levels etc etc etc. Basically, all the factors are constants.

However, if I'm looking to progress in MTT's is this a good way to go, or would I be better playing various MTT with less/more players, different size starting stacks, different blind increments etc etc?

Basically, i was planning to stick to the 180 seaters until I start showing a profit, and then look into other MTT's, but I realise this could be wrong.

It plays similarly to an MTT. It's technically a "SnG" because it starts when there are enough players, not at a fixed time. When people say "SnG," they usually mean one table tournies.

I don't know that there is a big difference between 180 players and 350+ players tbh.

It's definitely a MTT, it just doesn't have a fixed start time as DC says. If you take one down, it's a good result!

it all really depends on the structure.
The faster you get to push/fold mode the less post flop ability is needed.
